A visit to New York is not complete without a visit to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is one of the world’s best cultural institutions that has on display, millions of collections of art works from all over the world. Curators and conservators take great pains and efforts to maintain one of the nation’s best museums.
The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States, spanning the East river and connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn. It was inaugurated in 1883 and was built by the father-son team of John and Washington Reobling.
The well known United Nations Headquarters has been situated in New York City since 1950. Though technically the building is located in New York City, the land and the building housing the headquarters is considered as international territory. It has 38 floors and the entire East-West walls were covered with thermopane glass, which has the capacity to absorb heat.
Another famous place to visit in New York is The Lincoln Center for Performing Arts, which has a huge array of buildings situated on a 16 acre plot in West Manhattan in New York City. It serves as the abode for 12 Arts organizations including the School of American Ballet, New York City Ballet, and New York City Opera.
